The Challenge
OpenThoughts Nepal needed a dedicated digital platform to manage content publishing in a more structured and professional way. Their existing process relied on scattered tools for submissions, editorial coordination, and publishing, which made workflows harder to manage as content and contributors grew.
They needed a custom platform that could support multiple content types, simplify editorial operations, and offer a better publishing experience for both contributors and readers.
What We Delivered
Custom Publishing Platform
We designed and developed a custom digital publishing platform tailored to OpenThoughts Nepal’s editorial and publishing workflow. The platform gave the organization a centralized system for managing content submissions, reviews, approvals, and publishing in one place.
Structured Editorial Workflow
We replaced fragmented manual coordination with a more organized editorial process. Contributors can submit content directly through the platform, while editors can review, manage, and publish submissions through a dedicated admin workflow.
Multi-Format Content Support
The platform supports 8 content formats and 10 content categories, allowing OpenThoughts Nepal to publish a wide range of content including articles, opinion pieces, stories, poetry, reviews, and creative work within a single system.
Nepali-First Experience
Native Nepali language support was built into the platform to make the experience more accessible to a broader local audience and better align with the organization’s mission.
Engagement Features
To create a more interactive reading experience, we implemented threaded discussions, multi-type reactions, and real-time notifications that encourage participation beyond publishing alone.
Admin Control
We built a role-based admin dashboard that allows the OpenThoughts Nepal team to manage content, users, moderation, and publishing operations without relying on constant developer support.
Scalable Foundation
The platform was developed using React, Django, MySQL, and Cloudinary, providing a reliable and scalable foundation for future growth.
